4. Following up on the auction in one or two days and sending the item quickly
Start your auction when you know you can be in the Internet at that time. That way, your buyers don't have to wait 12 hours to get their item. This is especially true for virtual goods. Buyers come back frequently and you get lots of bidder if your feedback list consists of "fast delivery" "super fast" or other keywords. This is the easiest way to get lots of credits. If you can't get on the Internet regularly for whatever reason, let you buyers know on the description an estimate of when they can receive their item. It's really important to provide fast item delivery and will make you stomp over other sellers.
An example would be; I've had a 100 Microsoft Point auction that ended within 30 minutes of another seller, but the other seller had a bunch of rules and restrictions on the description, didn't have a proof picture, her feedback weren't full of positive comments and therefore the auction was at less than 100 credits while mine was over 600. That seller's average 100 Microsoft Point auction was 600 while mine were averaging over 1000. Don't end up like the other seller, get more credits for your dollar. I also have sold over 600 Microsoft Points each to multiple users because they kept coming back and bidding high because they knew I would deliver quality items really fast.
A tidbit for physical items, make sure that you let your buyer know right away when you're going to ship the item. Be specific, don't say a range like "this week", put a specific date and then stick to it. If you can't make it, let your buyer know that day and apologize, don't make up excuses for not doing it. They don't need to know the reason, just say you will ship it the next day. This is so important for the satisfaction of your buyer. A tip for shipping items is to print the label online using Paypal, just Click Here. This way, you save money on now having to go to the postal office and you also get cheap free delivery confirmation and tracking (20 vs 65 cents).
